OVERVIEW AND DIRECTION
This subject can get complex, since there are various forms of hair loss, and also a considerable number of possible causes for these different forms. This page will first provide some help on the subject of general every-day shedding issues, which can be experienced by virtually every pet. If you see other issues or symptoms - such as itching, skin problems, odor, or symmetrical hair loss, then the information lower on the page will be of further help and direction.
GENERAL SHEDDING PROBLEMS
Your every-day shedding issues can have many factors, all of which can be helped by the products you see to the right. Such hair-loss/shedding is highly related to the condition of the hair follicle, and what may be missing, the weaker the hair follicles, the greater the shedding; though, some breeds are more prone to shedding based on type of coat and genetic predisposition. However, the weakness of hair follicles, as relates to general shedding issues, is directly related to lack or loss of lanolin, which is tied to synovial fluid health in the body. Since the NZYMES® Antioxidant Treats or Granules can be so helpful with the body's production or management of Synovial Fluid, an expected benefit is improvement with most shedding problems. For the long explanation, click - Antioxidant Enzymes of the Body.
NZYMES® EFFECTIVENESS
If you are considering ordering NZYMES® because
your pet sheds we want to assure you that they will be very helpful for your
pet. However, shedding is a degenerative problem and can take between 30 to
90 days to start showing improvement (after all, the skin is the largest organ
of the body). Dull or sparse coats are even easier to change around with regular use of these products.
AFTER BEGINNING NZYMES
In a majority of shedding cases, we expect to see a significant reduction in a pet's regular
daily shedding after 3 to 5 months. We have seen reports of as much as a 95% improvement. However, annual shedding
is a normal metabolic process for almost all dogs; but, constant year-round shedding
is likely a sign of nutritional deficiencies, which allow the pet's immune
system to become weakened. Most often the cause is poor quality pet foods,
which are lacking the amino acids, vitamins and minerals or the nutritional
ingredients needed to maintain good health. These deficiencies are exactly what the NZYMES® Antioxidant Treats or Granules are designed to be so helpful with.

Here is a very brief Success Story on shedding (and arthritis), and some side benefits.
July 31, 2009
My dog is a 13 year old Lab/Shepherd mix with arthritis and excessive shedding problems. I purchased my first canister of the NZYMES Granules last December and changed her food to Eagle Pack Senior after reading your food recommendation on the website. Within a few months I saw an improvement in both the shedding and arthritis.
The icing on the cake came 2 weeks ago after routine blood work. The vet called me and said, "Your dog has the blood work of a 2 year old dog!!" I attribute this to the NZYMES and food change. What you feed your pet, and the supplements you give is well worth the extra cost, as I then make no trips to the vet between yearly visits and I have a happy, healthy dog. My neighbor has a dog the same age as mine and his blood work showed thyroid and liver issues even though she feeds a premium dog food. The supplements DO help. THANK YOU NZYMES!!

PET
FOODS WE RECOMMEND
Since we've now mentioned how pet foods are involved in the problem, we now need to enlighten you on how important it is to feed your pet a quality pet food. To
view a list recommended foods please visit this page at our site:

Recommend

(Note: After food changes, pets may blow-coat which could take up to 6 months
to replace)
Other Causative Factors for Hair Loss Issues
SHEDDING AND THYROID PROBLEMS
Often a low thyroid condition can be contributory to hair loss. Usually seen
as a symmetrical hair-loss that happens equally on both sides of the body or
along the rear legs. Pets with this condition often need a thyroid medication.
If your symptoms are similar then you should have a blood work-up done. Though your
vet can do this, we highly recommend an alternative - submitting a blood sample to Dr. Jean Dodds, the leading veterinary expert in this realm (see link below). Also, after regular use (3-6 months)
of NZYMES®, we
often see some additional balancing of the thyroid (t3 and t4 levels), which can allow a reduction in the thyroid medication requirements for these pets.

ALLERGIES, SHEDDING, OR FOOD REACTIONS ARE OFTEN YEAST RELATED
PROBLEMS
Many dogs have reactions to the ingredients, preservatives or the
additives contained in many commercial pet foods. Each day we receive
calls from pet owners who describe symptoms commonly diagnosed as FOOD ALLERGIES. These
symptoms include, shedding, hair loss, itchiness, dry skin, flaky skin, rashes,
hot spots, and many more. They have been told that THEIR DOG OR CAT is
allergic to one substance or another. Some have paid for allergy testing and
have been convinced by their vets or dermatologists that their pets are specifically
allergic to BEEF, CHICKEN, LAMB, RICE, CORN, SOY or many other ingredients.
They tell us about the years of treatment and the costly medications needed
to try to eliminate the symptoms their pets suffer from. But, these pets
never seem to improve or resolve any of the problems. NEVER do we hear these
people discuss their doctors mentioning the dangerous preservatives, chemicals,
flavorings, food colorings or additives used in making the brands of pet foods
they prescribe. Just ask yourself, "Does this sound logical?"; it is NOT logical.
Ninety five percent (95%) of these cases we find are directly related
to a breakdown of the GI tract and an overgrowth of candida yeast. If wondering about the accuracy of your vets 'ALLERGIES' diagnosis, please check this out - Assessment: Allergies or Yeast?
WE TELL YOU THIS -
Rarely do we see a diagnosed FOOD ALLERGY or FOOD REACTION problem with a dog
or cat that does not start to resolve itself with proper nutrition and
and correct supplementation.
Systemic
Yeast Infection/Candidiasis/Leaky Gut Syndrome.
This problem is commonly miss-diagnosed as "ALLERGIES" and
a list of other ailments (see symptoms list link below). This internal
GI problem is made worse by feeding processed carbohydrates (i.e., grains,
wheat flour, corn meal, corn gluten meal, white rice, rice flour,
potatoes, pasta, sugars, etc. - which are used in many of
today's pet foods and treats). However general itchiness and simple
rashes can often be related to chemical additives in some of the poorer
quality pets foods being sold today.

MANGE
PROBLEMS
Mange issues often are a result of a compromised immune system. Our NZYMES® products
help increase the natural absorption of nutrients and strengthen the overall
immune system, which can shorten the time needed for recovery. For a problem like
this we recommend our basic 3-Pak Kit (NZYMES® Treats or Granules, Ox-E-Drops and BacPak
Plus), along with quality food from our recommended foods list.
This is an issue best evaluated by your veterinarian but you can contact
this site below to discuss your problem and the natural treatments.
