Oral Wart Problems in Dogs -
Canine Oral Papilloma Virus (COPV)

Papilloma wart on LipThis symptoms of this viral condition are characterized by irregular shaped, cauliflower-texture growths within or around the mouth of the animal. But, they can develop upon the skin, around the face as well. With the appearance of such growths (warts), they tend to grow and multiply rapidly, as compared to common warts.

oral papilloma virusThe increased incidence of Papilloma viral wart issues in recent years is likely due to the continued rise in the number of available, and very appealing communal settings, such as dog parks, doggy day-care, etc; wherein, the opportunity for the virus to spread is much greater than where dogs are restricted to the home environment. Also, incidence is higher in dogs with weaker, or underdeveloped immune systems, like juvenile or senior dogs.
