NZYMES® Bac~Pak Plus uses a powerful blend of live and viable, naturally occurring microorganisms and digestive enzymes which are Micro-encapsulated to ensure maximum delivery. This Micro-encapsulation process provides key protection against heating and stomach acid to insure that the majority of the viable bacteria reach the GI tract where they are needed. This blend promotes proper digestion and improved assimilation of foods. Bac~Pak Plus was created for nutritional supplemental use with animals of all ages and designed to help optimize the health of a pet's digestive tract and immune system.
Animals often get sick when their gastrointestinal tract becomes disrupted. Beneficial (friendly) microorganisms can no longer flourish in needed numbers and in the proper balance. What can cause this disruption in the gastrointestinal tract? There are many contributors. While the next paragraph answers this question in greater detail, we hope to illustrate the incredible importance of supplementing with probiotics for protection and repair.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF GASTRO-INTESTINAL DISRUPTION?
The most common cause is past or present use of antibiotics. While the Antibiotic itself may be essential to the recovery of your pet's health at the time, the unwanted consequence is the breakdown of the GI flora, as antibiotics do not discriminate on the types of bacteria they affect, the bad and the good. Even if you are not giving your pet prescription antibiotics, many of today's popular pet foods use meat sources that are laden with remnants of antibiotics that were used as feed additives. By this scenario, antibiotics are being delivered to your precious pet by stealth, carrying the damaging side effects to the GI tract.
In addition to antibiotics, here are some of the major contributors to GI tract disruption.
-
Preservatives in pet foods and treats. Preservatives are added to these products to prevent them from spoiling while in storage. They are used to stop the growth of bacteria in the bag. Unfortunately, they carry the same effect to the “friendly” bacteria of the GI tract. Unless you are using products are preserved “naturally”, your pet's friendly flora will be at risk.
-
Chlorinated water. Most every major municipal water system uses chlorine as a decontaminant, and to kill off unwanted microbes. While this mechanism is quite effective at keeping our drinking water clean and safe, it is not completely without risk. Long term use of chlorinated water will take a toll on GI flora over time.
-
Reactions to Vaccinations. When your pet is vaccinated, in particular with multiple vaccines, the introduction of these antigens can cause quite a jolt to the immune system as it is now thrust into action to develop a resistance to the strains. During these times, the GI flora is susceptible to disruption.
-
The use of Wormers. It is not uncommon for puppies or kittens to be treated for worms/parasites at an early age. For adult dogs, the use of heartworm medicine is a must in many locations. These products will negatively affect friendly, GI bacteria.
-
Stress/Anxiety. There are many causes of stress to any particular pet that can negatively affect their digestive tract. Stress/Anxiety can rise from: Being left alone for long periods, or from a change in schedule or routine; the death of a family member or pet; the aftermath of a cataclysmic event like a storm, flood, or fire; neglect or abuse.
We are now being faced with increasing numbers of bacteria that are immune to antibiotics. In 1928, Alexander Fleming discovered the
"miracle antibiotic" penicillin. During the Second World War, this antibiotic was made widely available to eliminate the most unmerciful of wartime killers; infected wounds. Mass production of this antibiotic began soon after its discovery and was eventually administered to everyone with bacterial infections. Four years after the mass production of penicillin started a frightening and unexpected phenomenon began to occur. Some of the deadly bacteria the antibiotic was supposed to destroy began developing resistance. This phenomenon has continued and is now a really serious problem. In today's environment it is literally becoming very dangerous for you or your animals to get sick. That is why it is critical for you to know about direct live-fed microbial's and digestive enzymes - the natural solution of our times.
Microorganisms consist of approximately five hundred species of bacteria that inhabit the intestine. These bacteria are sometimes referred to as 'friendly' or 'beneficial' bacteria.
HOW DO DIRECT-FED MICROBIAL's (probiotics) WORK?
By attaching themselves to the intestinal wall, the friendly bacteria keep pathogenic bacteria from gaining a foothold. In addition, they produce lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide, (which kill most disease-causing bacteria trying to enter the body). Some yogurts and other fermented foods have these cultures, but these may not be strong enough for today's environment. This is why microorganism supplementation is so important. It only costs a few pennies a day to supplement your animal's diet with direct-fed microbial's and digestive enzymes.
BENEFITS OF DIRECT FED MICROBIALS:
In sufficient numbers, these friendly bacteria keep disease-causing bacteria from overpopulating the intestine. Also, they improve digestion, manufacture B vitamins, and boost immune system activity. Because they boost immunity, they positively influence the overall health of the animal.
WHEN TO USE DIRECT FED MICROBIALS
- At Birth, the intestinal tract of newborns is basically sterile, which provides the best opportunity for introducing the beneficial bacteria found in direct-fed microbial's.
- At Weaning, a young animal's digestive system is not fully developed to efficiently change from "mother's milk."
- Handling (shipping, vaccinations, grooming, weather changes and extremes like surgery and other situations can put stress on the animal. This results in reduced appetite and feed intake, which leads to possible weight loss.
- Antibiotic Treatment often lowers the number or growth of Lactobacillus and other beneficial microbes in the digestive tract. Direct-fed microbial's assist in the replenishing of these beneficial bacteria, resulting in a quicker return to a balanced intestinal micro flora.
- Since many stressful situations can not be anticipated, daily feeding of a direct-fed microbial's is recommended as a preventative measure.

| LACTIC ACID PRODUCING DEFINITIONS (Probiotics)
These help supplement with the production of Lactic Acid producing bacteria in the digestive tract of Individuals which helps reduce the pH and colonization of beneficial bacteria in the lower intestinal tract. This creates a hostile environment for undesirable bacteria to colonize and enhances the growth of several digestive enzymes found in various stages in the digestive system. The synergistic effect aids in maintaining more normal intestinal functions.
Lactobacillus Acidophilus - Micro encapsulated (protective coating) species specific designed to be viable (live) until it reaches the small Intestine, to stimulate the lactic acid production, creating a sudden down shift In the pH In the small intestine. With Increased levels of lactic acid or the down shift in the pH a hostile environment is created for undesirable bacteria and pathogens in the Intestinal tract, allowing for greater fluid and nutrient transfer across the intestinal wall.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) is the most commonly used probiotic, or "friendly" bacteria. Such healthy bacteria inhabit the intestines and vagina and protect against the entrance and proliferation of "bad" organisms that can cause disease. This is accomplished through a variety of mechanisms. For example, the breakdown of food by L. acidophilus leads to production of lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and other byproducts that make the environment hostile for undesired organisms. L. acidophilus also produces lactase, the enzyme that breaks down milk sugar (lactose) into simple sugars. People who are lactose intolerant do not produce this enzyme. For this reason, L. acidophilus supplements may be beneficial for these individuals.
Bifidobacterium Thermophilum - Micro encapsulated species specific, designed to be viable (live) until It reaches the small intestine, aids in stimulating the lactic acid production, a very beneficial colonizer In the intestine tract (replacing the space vacated by the undesirable bacteria after a downshift In the pH). This particular strain is very quick to colonize (multiply) in the intestinal tract.
Bifidobacterium longum – (Micro encapsulated) for storage and viability until it reaches the lower gut (small intestine). This provides Very quick response time at colonizing (attaching to the lining of the intestinal tract) therefore leaving less space for undesirable bacteria to attach. Maintaining a higher percentage of fluid and nutrient assimilation through the intestinal wall.
Enterococcus faeclum - (Micro encapsulated) durable strain of bacteria that is a great stimulator of lactic acid production in the intestinal tract of the Individual. This particular strain is very beneficial in the synthesizing of B vitamins.
Bacillus Subtilis - A very durable strain of bacteria. It enhances lactic acid production. This particular strain demonstrates properties that have shown to reduce nitrates and stimulates the production of additional enzymes (amylase, protease and lipase
DIGESTIVE ENZYMES DEFINITIONS
Specific enzymes have been selected to break down the major substrates of nutrients that are being consumed by the individual thus enhancing the overall nutrient assimilation of the food that is being consumed. This relates to more bio available nutrients being used for the health of the Individual and less being passed away in the stools.
Amylase - Increases the utilization of starches that are being consumed by reducing the molecules to smaller molecular weights, which can be more readily absorbed into the blood system.
Protease - or proteolytic enzymes enhances the utilization of the proteins that are being consumed, reducing them to usable peptides and amino acids which make this substance more bio-available to the individual. Protease helps to clean up your body by removing the unwanted protein from your circulatory system and blood stream, and helps restore your energy and balance.
Hemi-cellulase - Readily digestible cellulose is held in bundles by Hemi-cellulos fractions. Hemi-cellulase specifically aim at and breakdown these hemi-cellulose fractions opening up the cellulose to make it more available for digestion.
Phytase - Hydrolyzes phytic acid which is wide spread in nature and the principle form of phosphorus in many seeds (phytic acid contents are about 60-80% of the total phosphorus in seeds), Phytic acid binds minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium and magnesium, therefore it reduces their bio availability.
Cellulase - Enhances the utilization of the fibrous portions of the food that is being consumed.
Lipase – Helps to supplement the inherent enzyme system in the break down of fats and lipids. Also increases the bio availability of the fat soluble vitamins.
Pectinase - Reduces the structure size of the plant pectin into galacturonic acid to maintain water balance to avoid excessive fluid passage, which is essential for cell growth and development
Beta-glucanase - Specific enzyme to hydrolyze and enhance the bio-availability of specific types of starch molecules.
YUCCA SCHIDIGERA POWDER Yucca Schidigera Is a natural plant fiber which has ammonia binding capabilities. This helps stimulation of blood flow by reducing the blood cholesterol and abnormal blood triglyceride's. It also helps to reduce the inflammation in joints, which include chronic arthritis and decreases the amount of toxins available for absorption from the digestive system. The body’s elimination system (kidneys, Liver, lymph and blood) are thus less taxed to remove poisons from the body. This lowers the build up of toxins in the joints and elsewhere which seem to be related to diseases like arthritis. | |
