Tasha is our 5-year old female Shih-Tzu. She has suffered for the past 3 years with what our veterinarians diagnosed as allergies. Her condition, which was mild at first, worsened steadily each year and finally got to the point of frantic muzzle scratching, digging at her ears, and loud crying. This pattern would continue many times each hour virtually every hour that she was awake. She was prescribed oral steroids, and antihistamines plus an assortment of topical prescription treatments and dietary changes. Nothing she was prescribed helped very much, some not at all, and even the steroids provided no lasting improvement.
After reading about NZYMES® on-line, we started Tasha on Antioxidant Treats in April 2005. After several conversations with Biopet about the possibility that she was suffering from a immune health problem, we also added the other products from the NZYMES® Healthy-Skin Kit, including the Ox-E-Drops, Tincture of BlackLeaf and the Bac~Pak Plus probiotics to her supplement treatment routine. We also changed all our dogs' food to Eagle brand holistic chicken.
At her regular vet appointment in June, I said that I suspected a yeast problem - which they tested for and confirmed. The vet then prescribed a course of oral anti-fungal medication as well as anti-fungal ear drops. After two doses, Tasha developed severe nausea and vomiting from the oral medications, and so I discontinued the entire course of the medications after just 3 days. However, I increased her supplements and stayed with her new food.
Today, I am very happy to report that Tasha is healthier than she has ever been since her symptoms first appeared three years ago. She has once again become a happy, active dog who wants to play constantly. She still rubs her muzzle occasionally, but her overall improvement in just 3 months has been truly remarkable, and she continues to show improvement weekly.
July 2005 - Eye Injury
Unfortunately, in July, Tasha received a very serious eye puncture which quickly became infected. We took her to see an animal eye specialist in our area who was very concerned about the severity of her injury and who cautioned us that she might lose the eye altogether. Tasha was put on a very aggressive antibiotic eye drop protocol with two different medications simultaneously. They advised us to keep her at the hospital, but I insisted on taking her home so that we could continue giving her all her supplements. She was given antibiotic drops in her eyes 8 times daily and was set to be re-examined in 6 days. When we brought her back to the doctor, they could not believe how dramatic her recovery had been. In only 6 days, her eye was virtually well, and we were told that, even under hospital confinement, the degree of recovery she demonstrated would not have been expected for a period of at least two or more weeks.
Although impossible to prove, it is my belief that her rapid recovery was due to her overall good health and strengthened immune system which are a direct result of her NZYMES® supplement program.
I am a Ph.D. microbiologist with 20 years prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry. I would recommend these supplements to anyone who wishes to provide their pets a true chance at optimal health. As a result of Tasha's experience, I now have my other dogs on NZYMES® supplements and am personally taking the NZYMES® Sprouted Granules myself daily.
