NERO, a Dog Having Seizures and the Path to Relief
Breed: Newfoundland.
Age: 4 Yrs.
Health History: Epilepsy, Severe seizure disorder
Seizure disorder began to show at 2 yrs.
Nero was seizure-free for his first 24+ months of his life. Just a happy bouncy Newfoundland puppy, then young adult. When he began having seizures they were short and just a couple at a time. That quickly became worse.
When the first seizures occurred, we found Nzymes® Sprouted Granules and gave him those alone as our long-time vet was deciding on a course of treatment for Nero.
Terrible side-effects from meds
When he began the first medication treatment, Nero had every known side effect and we eventually had to take him off of it. One of those side effects of those medications was that he would not eat. So we also held-off from giving him the Nzymes®.
During this period his seizures got worse and on the longest run, he had 49 identifiable events over one weekend!
Cobbling together a “cocktail”
We got his medicine transitioned to a cocktail and that gave us two months between the runs of seizures. This cocktail had no side effects other than being hard on Nero’s liver and we thought that was about as good as it would get.
Getting Nzymes back into the mix
Then we incorporated Nzymes® Sprouted Granules back into his diet…
Seizure disorder under control with combination
We don’t know why the Nzymes® work, we just know that he has been seizure free for 8 months now and is doing fine on the combination of Nzymes® Sprouted Granules and some very traditional seizure meds.
We now have hope that he will go much longer without seizures.
